About Komeh Freeman

Owner and lead Clinician of Healing Hearts Psychotherapy, PLLC.

My name is Komeh Freeman and I’m the owner and lead Clinician of Healing Hearts Psychotherapy, PLLC.  I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor in Houston, TX and have provided psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults and their families for over ten years. I am also a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) in Houston, TX and a Certified Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (TF-CBT). I was born and raised in Sierra Leone-West Africa and came to the US when I was 11 years old due to a civil war in my country. I grew up in Houston and graduated from Alief Hastings High School and went on to earn my Bachelor’s degree in psychology and liberal arts from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI.  I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology—Counseling Specialization from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, IL. I have extensive training and experience working with childhood sexual abuse in numerous settings including the largest sexual abuse center in the country (The Children’s Assessment Center of Houston,TX), a group home for teen girls who’ve experienced sexual abuse, private practices and community mental health settings. I know firsthand what it’s like to struggle in silence with shame and to spend many years trying not to think about or talk about the childhood sexual abuse. I’ve learned over time that the first step to healing is acknowledging the sexual abuse, breaking the silence and speaking my truth. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse I am passionate and highly committed to helping other victims get their power back and transform their lives.

Supervision

I became a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor because I was blessed to have many great supervisors along my journey to becoming an LPC and wanted to pay it forward. I often left supervision feeling heard, supported, and empowered. I aim to provide those same values to my potential supervisees. I work collaboratively with you through your journey to full licensure and tailor our supervision to meet your needs. I incorporate expressive arts into our sessions in addressing challenging clinical issues you may be facing, your own countertransference, and learning the board rules. Taking on associates is a huge responsibility and liability and as such I maintain a low number of associates at any given time to allow me to be fully present to meet your needs. If you are in the process of securing a Licensed Counselor Supervisor in Houston, TX to complete your 3,000 licensure hours, I’d be happy to set up a free 15 minutes consultation to see if we would be a good fit.
